
Men's Swim & Dive Falls 836-636 In Annual Invite

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State men's swimming and diving team earned six event wins against Grand Valley State University in the 11th annual Douglas A. Coers Invitational, but ultimately fell to the Lakers 836-636. Senior Joseph Morris recorded four first place event wins in addition to three second place finishes throughout the two day event.
The Cardinals clenched second the 400 freestyle relay to round out the invitational by the combination of seniors Morris, Neal Fennig, junior Cole Smith and sophomore Austin Green for a finished 3:11.94. Morris's first place finishes included the 200 breast (2:10.78), 100 breast (57.60), 200 IM (1:55.55) and the 200 free relay (1:25.78). Morris rounded out his second place finishes in the 400 medley (3:30.28) and 200 medley relay (1:36.06). Morris recorded two of the three individual event wins for Ball State, in addition to his relay success.
Junior Smith registered the final individual event win for the Cardinals in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.30. He also recorded a first place finish in the 400 relay with a 3:11.94 finish, along with second place finishes including the 400 medley relay (3:30.28), 200 medley relay (1:36.06), and the 400 free relay (3:11.94). Smith also posted a third place finish in the 100 free with a time of 48.55.
Freshman diver Seth Winslow showed promise with a second place finish in the 1-meter dive Saturday afternoon with a score of 232.50 and tallying a 219.98 in the 3-meter Friday night.
The Ball State men's swimming and diving team will be back in action on Friday, Dec. 5 and Saturday, Dec. 6, when they travel to Ypsilanti, Mich. for the Eastern Michigan Invitational.
