
Women's Swim & Dive Down Eastern Illinois 165-97

CHARLESTON, Ill. -- The Ball State women's swimming and diving team took down Eastern Illinois Friday evening in their first co-ed meet of the season at the Padovan Pool. The Cardinals dominated by earning 9-of-14 event wins throughout the meet, ultimately posting a score of 165-97.
Ball State swept two events on the day including the 200 freestyle by Hannah Cressman, Traci Muszalski and Leighann Mattson and also the 500 freestyle by Mattson, Amanda Kedzierski and Muszalski.
Kedzierski then combined with Carlena Magley, Elaine Pitsas and Jessica Extine to capture a first place finish in the 200 free relay event. Magley also went on to cinch first in the 1000 free at 11:02.58, closely followed by teammate Kimberly Scott who posted an 11:02.68 time in the event. Magley rounded out her individual events by registering a 1:03.21 finish for third in the 100 fly.
Other Cardinal success included senior Jordan VanWinkle who recorded three event wins. VanWinkle tallied two top individual finishes in both the 200 IM at a 2:11.09, and in the 200 breast with a time of 2:31.60. She rounded out her event wins by combining with Andrea Richter, Sydney Harris and Katie Horn in the 200 medley relay for a registered finish of 1:51.91.
The Ball State women's swimming and diving team will be back in action Friday, Nov. 21 and Saturday, Nov. 22, when they host the annual co-ed Doug Coers Invitational in Muncie, Ind. at the Lewellen Aquatic Center.
