MUNCIE, Ind. - Ball State women's basketball third-year head coach Brady Sallee announced the signing of guard Nakeya Penny (Logansport, Ind./Logansport High School) to a national letter of intent.
"We are very excited to welcome Nakeya to our Ball State family," Sallee said. "Physically, we're adding a player that has all the skills you could ask for in a wing player and size that will make her a tough match-up for anyone we play. Most importantly, Nakeya is a high character young lady and will undoubtedly represent Ball State in ways which that we will all be proud of. She is the exact fit we need as we continue to push this program forward."
A 5-foot-11 guard out of Logansport High School, Penny has scored over 1,100 points for her career. Penny has played an intricate role in helping Logansport earn three North Central Conference Championship titles under former coach, Jerry Hoover. She is also a three-time All-NCC All-Conference selection earning first team accolades in 2013 and 2014. Penny is a two-time recipient of the IBCA/Subway girls all-state honorable mention team. She averaged 18.7 points per game and 6.1 rebounds as a junior while helping Logansport to a 24-3 record last year.
