
Field Hockey Drops Season Finale To Miami 6-3

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State field hockey team recorded a 6-3 loss against Mid-American Conference opponent Miami Saturday afternoon at the Ball State Turf Field in the Briner Sports Complex. In the season finale game, sophomore Bryce Barnes (Fredericksburg, Va./Mountain View) scored her first career goal just four minutes in.
Ball State ends the 2014 season with a 5-11 overall record and a 1-5 conference record. Miami ends the year with 7-11 overall record and 4-2 in MAC play.
Ball State led the match 3-1 going into the second half, but was held from putting any more points on the board for the remainder of the game. The Redhawks responded with six unanswered goals that lifted the final score to 6-3 Miami.
Junior Bethany Han (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) closed out her season by scoring her sixth of the year to tie with sophomore Lexi Kavanaugh (Sherrill, N.Y./Vernon Verona Sherrill) to lead the Cardinals in goals in the 2014 season.
Freshman Carley Shannon (Williamsburg, Va./Bruton) rounded out Ball State's scoring with an assist from senior Tori Widrick (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia/BC Cyclones/Futures), who tallied two assists on the day. Fellow senior Tarel Teach (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes/Beach Premiere/Icoyo) recorded two shots on net for the Cardinals.
The Ball State field hockey team would like to thank all fans for their continued support throughout the entire 2014 season, and thank fans for helping them in celebrating the seniors' time with the Cardinals. The Ball State field hockey team is looking forward to seeing everyone back again in the 2015 season.
