Zirzow Named Conference Swimmer Of The Week

MUNCIE, Ind. – After an opening weekend of Mid-American Conference action at Bowling Green, Madie Zirzow has been named the MAC Swimmer of the Week, announced Tuesday.
Ball State junior diver Zirzow turned in pool records on both the one and three meter dives with scores of 268.05 and 260.10, respectively. The Fort Wayne, Ind. native earned two individual event wins in both the one and three meter dives, along with a zone qualifying score on the one meter.
With the weekend in the books, Zirzow tallied two of Ball State's four event wins and the weekly honor is the first for Zirzow in her career.
Zirzow also had a strong showing in Ball State's season opener at the Indiana Intercollegiate on Oct. 18, posting a third place finish in the three meter dive at 230.65 and fourth place finish in the one meter with a 242.35. The Cardinals finished second overall of 11 teams in attendance for the event.
The Ball State women's swimming and diving team will open home action Saturday, Nov. 1, when it takes on Mid-American Conference foe Akron at 1 p.m. in Muncie at the Lewellen Aquatic Center.
