Ball State's Joel Godett previews the football team's linebackers as the Thursday season opener vs. Illinois State approaches less than a week away.
The Cardinals lost starting linebackers Travis Freeman and Tony Martin from the 2012 defensive unit, and return letterwinners Julian Boyd, Ben Ingle, Kenneth Lee and Trent Toothman.
Jay Bateman will coach the inside linebackers, while also coordinating the defense, while Daryl Dixon will coach the outside linebackers.
Ball State open the season Thursday with a 7 p.m. "White Out" home game at Scheumann Stadium vs. Illinois State.
