August 01, 2013 | Men's Golf
MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State men's golf team was named an All-Academic Team by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) for its success in the classroom in 2012-13.
Teams posting an average GPA of at least 3.0 received the award. Ball State's average GPA for the academic year was 3.335. The Cardinals were one of three Mid-American Conference programs to earn the award, joining Akron and Miami University.
Earlier this summer, four Cardinals -- Joe Gasser, Tony Lazzara, Tyler Merkel and Alex Stinson -- earned All-America Scholar recognition from the GCAA. Ball State was tied with national champion Alabama for the most All-America Scholars in the country.
