FLORENCE, Ind. -- The Ball State women's golf team carded a 36-hole total of 631 (315-316) Saturday on day one at Indiana's Hoosier Fall Invitational.
The Cardinals are in 11th place through two rounds in the 13-team field at Belterra Casino and Resort. The third and final round will be played Sunday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
Tournament host Indiana sits atop the leaderboard after two rounds at 4-over par 580 (295-285), followed two more Big Ten teams -- Wisconsin in second at 592 (296-296) and Minnesota in third at 596 (301-295).
Those schools account for three of the six teams in the tournament that are ranked among the top 80 in the Golfstat Relative Rankings.
"It's a really tough field this week," Ball State coach Katherine Mowat said. "We had a lot of rounds today that were close to being good and took turns the wrong direction. One low round can often catapult a team score, and we just didn't have that today."
Wisconsin's Lindsay Danielson is leading the individual race with a 4-under par total of 140 (72-68).
Ball State senior Zoe Camus recorded the Cardinals' best score Saturday at 11-over par 155 (79-76) to tie for 32nd individually through two rounds on the par-72, 6,200-yard layout.
Junior Meghan Perry is tied for 36th place at 157 (78-79), while sophomore Jenna Hague is tied for 40th at 158 (79-79). Junior Sarah Westaway's score of 161 (79-82) and senior Autumn Duke's total of 163 (81-82) rounded out the Ball State lineup on day one.
Freshman Karley Dobis, competing as an individual, posted a score of 164 (81-83).
Saturday's play marked the first of four straight competition days for Ball State. Following the conclusion of Sunday's final round at the Hoosier Fall Invitational, the Cardinals will immediately head to Nashport, Ohio, to play Monday and Tuesday in the Mid-American Conference Preview at Longaberger Golf Club.
