Football's Keith Wenning Wins MAC Weekly Award
October 01, 2012 | Football
Ball State junior quarterback Keith Wenning has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Offensive Player of the Week for a second straight time. Wenning shared the award with two others last week, but was named the sole recipient this week.
Wenning passed for a career high 445 yards and tied the Ball State single game record with five touchdown passes in the Cardinals 45-43 loss at Kent State.
The 445 passing yards was the second highest single-game effort in Ball State history. He completed 32-of-43 passes with zero interceptions and managed 459 yards in total offense in the contest. The 32 completions is the third highest single game total in Ball State annals and Wenning owns the top three performances.
Wenning, who has started the last 27 games at quarterback for the Cardinals, has now passed for 5,465 yards in his career. He ranks fourth all-time in Ball State history for career passing yards.
The Cardinals will host MAC foe Northern Illinois Saturday at 3 p.m. at Scheumann Stadium. To order tickets go to www.ballstatesports.com/tickets or call 1.888.BSU.TICKET.
