
WBB Suffers 63-52 Loss to MAC Leader Bowling Green

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State University women's basketball team (7-13, 2-5 MAC) fell 63-52 to Mid-American Conference leader Bowling Green (17-3, 7-0 MAC) Wednesday night in Worthen Arena.
Despite the loss Ball State had 10 players score in the game with freshman guard Brittany Carter leading the way with an 11-point performance for the Cardinals. Shelbie Justice added nine points on the night. Senior center and co-captain Suzanne Grossnickle had seven rebounds, while Carter tallied six boards and four Cardinals had four apiece.
Ball State trailed Bowling Green the entire second half and the Cardinals were held to a 34.5 shooting percentage, while the Falcons shot 44.9 percent for the contest.
The Cardinals started the game strong winning the opening tip and scoring off of a fast break layup from sophomore forward Katie Murphy to put Ball State up 2-0 over Bowling Green.
The Falcons answered back quickly eventually putting together a seven-point edge over the Cardinals (15-8) at the 12:55 mark. Freshman forward Neschelle Williams sparked a 4-0 run for Ball State to cut Bowling Green's lead to three (15-12) with 11 minutes to play in the first half but the Falcons continued to prevail eventually building a 39-22 halftime cushion over the Cardinals.
The Ball State women's basketball team will continue MAC cross divisional action when it travels to Miami University Saturday, for a noon tipoff at Millett Hall. The game will be televised on Sports Time Ohio.
