Packard Goes Shoeless For Charity
January 23, 2012 | Women's Basketball
"I am excited to bring Samaritan's Feet, particularly, the Barefoot Coaching Movement, to Ball State University," said Packard. "The Barefoot Coaching platform assists Samaritan's Feet in raising funds in order to take shoes directly to underprivileged children. The shoes meet a physical need, and the personal touch of the delivery and distribution of the shoes creates hope."
Packard will coach Barefoot for Bare Feet when the Cardinals host Buffalo at home in Mid-American Conference action, Saturday, Feb. 4 at 1 p.m, in Worthen Arena.
The "Barefoot for Bare Feet" movement involves coaches, governors, business leaders, teachers, pastors and many more using their platforms by performing their jobs barefoot to provide a voice for the 300,000,000 million children who wake every day in their bare feet. From across the nation, college, high school, and community coaches are coaching games in their bare feet and influencing university and high school students and faculty to get involved to help make a difference. Governors from several states and business leaders have gone barefoot to work to help bring awareness to this cause. Through this effort Samaritan's Feet has raised more than 2,000,000 pairs of new shoes and nearly $2 million dollars.
