Indoor T&F Takes Nine Top-10s at Gladstein Invite

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Ball State indoor track & field team scored nine top 10 efforts during Gladstein Invitational, hosted by Indiana at the Gladstein Field House.
Senior Janae Taylor (Richmond, Ind./Richmond) posted a fifth-place finish in the 200m dash (25.73), while junior Emilee Zets (Berlin Center, Ohio/West Branch) placed 10th in the 600m run with a time of 1:40.93.
Junior MaryKate Mellen stood as a top performer for the Cardinals in the 1 mile run, clocking in at 5:09.63 for a fifth-place finish, while junior Allison Blanck (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central) and freshman Courtney Edon (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) turned in fourth and nine-place times of 17:54.43 and 18:15.16 in the 5000m run, respectively.
Ball State posted two phenomenal performances on the high jump as sophomore Rebecca Lomax (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) turned in a leap of 5-8 to tie for third place, while freshman Haley Austin (Avon, Ind./Avon High) jumped to a height of 5-5 for fifth place.
The Cardinals' final top-10 efforts of the day came in the 4x400m and 4x800 relays. First, junior Judah Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) joined Mellen, Edon and Zets on the seventh-place 4x800m relay (9:38.99).
Then, Blanck combined with freshman Madelyn Webster (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsbrg), junior Madeline Goheen (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Dwenger) and freshman Caitlynn Edon (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) on the ninth-place 4x800m relay (10:00.85).
The Ball State indoor track & field team returns to action Saturday as the squad travels to Marion, Ind. for the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational beginning at 11 a.m.
