
Indoor T&F Tallies Three Event Wins at IWU

MARION, Ind. - The Ball State indoor track & field team posted wins in three of the 20 events, including 26 top-10 finishes, during the meet hosted by Indiana Wesleyan Saturday at the Troyer Fieldhouse.
In the sprint events, senior Janae Taylor (Richmond, Ind./Richmond) tallied a third-place finish in the 60m dash (7.69) and fifth in the 200m dash (26.00), while junior Judah Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) captured a second-place finish in the 400m dash with a time of 59.34.
In the mid-distance events, freshman Katie Behrendt (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) placed second in the 600m run (1:46.72), while classmate Madelyn Webster (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) added a fourth-place finish in the 800m run (2:25.59) and junior Madeline Goheen (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Dwenger) finished second in the mile with a time of 5:24.82.
The Cardinals tallied a second-place time in the distance races as junior MaryKate Mellen (Michigan City, Ind./Michigan City) posted a time of 10:26.89 in the 3000m run.
On the 60m hurdles, freshman Jazmine Gray (McCordsville, Ind./Mount Vernon) turned in a phenomenal performance with a time of 10.10.
In the relay events, junior Emilee Zets (Jacksonville, Fla./West Branch) and freshman Lindsay Wallace (Burlington, Ontario/Nelson) combined with Goheen, Webster and McMillan to claim a victory in the distance medley (12:51.28) after Smith, Taylor and Behrendt joined sophomore Hannah Lange (Martinsville, Ind./Martinsville) on the second-place 4x200m and 4x400m.
Ball State dominated on the high jump as senior Rebecca Lomax (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) posted a leap of 5-07.75 for first-place, while freshman Haley Austin (Avon, Ind./Avon High) jumped to a height of 5-05.75 for a second-place tally.
In other field events, freshman Hannah Ciasto-Poor (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South) placed third in the pole vault (10-03.25), while classmate Christina Crawford (Belleville, Mich./Romulus) added a victory in the long jump (18-01.00) and junior Alyssa Hurlburt (Huntington, Ind./Huntington North) turned in a third-place distance of 34-10.50 in the triple jump.
The Cardinals' final top-10 efforts of the day came in the shot put as junior Melissa Dodaro (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Reynoldsburg) placed third (42-07.50) and classmate Jorden Traver (Lafayette, Ind./Harrison) added a fifth place tally in the weight throw (45-08.00).
Ball State continues its indoor season next weekend when it travels to Notre Dame for the two-day Meyo Invitational.
