Women?s S&D Defeats Illinois State, Improves to 9-0

AKRON, Ohio - The Ball State women's swimming & diving team improves to 9-0 in the 2011-12 season after defeating Illinois State, 194.5-105.5, Saturday afternoon at Horton Pool.
Sophomore swimmer Haley Richter (Roanoke, Ind./Columbia City) added first-place efforts in the 100 back (58.03), 100 fly (56.61) and 200 IM (2:09.01) and also swam the third leg of the first-place 200 medley relay, which clocked in at 1:48.42.
Sophomore Bridgette Ruehl (Lowell, Ind./Lowell) tallied first-place wins in the 100 breast (1:06.48) and the 200 breast (2:24.31) and also swam the second leg for the 200 medley relay.
Freshman Carlena Magley (Waterloo, Ind./DeKalb) tallied a win in the 50 free (24.81), tied for the victory in the 100 free (53.65) and swam the anchor for the 200 medley relay and the first-place 400 freestyle relay, which clocked in at 3:36.34.
Sophomore Emily Wisolek (Middlebury, Ind./Northridge) also scored wins for the Cardinals in the 200 free (1:52.88), the 500 free (5:06.79) and swam the anchor for the 400 freestyle relay
Senior Nicole Saulters (Highland, Ind./Highland) also swam the first legs for the 200 medley relay and joined junior Jillian Bischoff (Atlanta, Ind./Hamilton Heights) on the 400 freestyle relay.
Junior Katelyn Pratt-Collins (Greenville, Ohio/Greenville) secured a win for the Cardinals in the 200 back (2:08.04), while senior diver Christina Riordan (Homewood, Ill./Homewood Flossmoor) added first-place efforts on the 1-meter (272.09) and 3-meter boards (302.03).
Ball State returns to action Friday as the Cardinals host the Miami RedHawks, starting at 5 p.m. from Lewellen Aquatic Center.
