BSU Hosts Eastern Illinois, Back to Normal Saturday

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's swimming & diving team opens its 2012 slate Friday at Lewellen Aquatic Center when it hosts Eastern Illinois in a meet starting at 6 p.m.
The Cardinals then head to Normal, Ill. for a matchup versus the Illinois State Redbirds Saturday at 1 p.m.
Ball State is undefeated in the New Year after defeating Big 10 rival Michigan State 182-108, Saturday, Dec. 10. BSU posted wins in 13 of 16 events, with three Cardinals collecting a pair of individual event victories.
Sophomore swimmer Bridgette Ruehl (Lowell, Ind./Lowell) had a phenomenal showing for BSU, as she broke the school record in the 100 breast (1:03.04) and posted a pool record in the 200 breast (2:18.57), after swimming the second leg of the first-place 200 medley relay, which clocked in at 1:44.55.
For her performance, Ruehl earned MAC Women's Swimmer of the Week honors for the second time in her career and second time this season. She first earned the award earned Oct. 26 after helping guide the Ball State women's swimming & diving team to a 162-138 victory in Ball State's season opener versus Evansville at Roy and Mary Wyttenbach Pool.
