Ball State 2011 Team Captains: Sean Baker (Canfield, Ohio/Canfield H.S.), Kreg Hunter (Lebanon, Ind./Lebanon H.S.), Adam Morris (Dublin, Ohio/Scioto H.S.), Briggs Orsbon (Convoy, Ohio/Crestview H.S.) and Andrew Puthoff (St. Henry, Ohio/St. Henry H.S.) have been selected as team captains for the 2011 season.
The Series: Ball State and Buffalo will be meeting for the ninth time in a series which dates back to the 1969 season . . . The two teams met in 1969 and 1970 and then continued the series after Buffalo became a member of the Mid-American Conference . . . The Cardinals own a 7-1 all-time advantage in the series, including a 3-0 mark in games played in Muncie, Ind. . . . Ball State won the first six games of the series before the Bulls tallied a 42-24 victory in the 2008 MAC Championship Game in Detroit, Mich. . . . The Cardinals tallied a 20-3 victory last season in Buffalo to take the 7-1 all-time lead.
A Year Ago: Ball State managed a 20-3 victory in Buffalo, N.Y., to improve to 4-7 overall and 3-4 in the MAC lat season . . . Sean Baker set the Cardinals career interception record when he intercepted the 15th pass of his career with just under 10 minutes to play in the first quarter of the contest . . . Ball State's defense limited the Bulls to 144 yards of total offense, including only 56 passing yards and 88 rushing yards . . . The Cardinals started its 2011 season with a 27-20 victory over Big Ten Conference foe Indiana at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. . . . Ball State is averaging 160.5 passing yards and 143.5 rushing yards per game, while allowing 322.0 passing yards and 125.0 rushing yards a contest . . . Keith Wenning has completed 47-of-64 passes for 321 yards with two touchdowns and zero interceptions . . . Steven Schott (Massillon, Ohio/Washington H.S.) . . . Ball State's top returnee is Sean Baker, who was named to the All-MAC Second Team plus was the Cardinals John Magnabosco Award winner as the team's most valuable player in 2010 . . . The Record: Buffalo evened its record at 1-1 overall with a 35-7 home victory over Stony Brook . . . The Bulls opened the 2011 season with a 35-16 loss at Pittsburgh.
The Coach: Jeff Quinn (Elmhurst '84) is in his second season as the head coach at Buffalo . . . Quinn led the Bulls to a 2-10 record in 2010 . . . Quinn came to Buffalo after spending the previous three seasons at Cincinnati.
The Stats: Buffalo is averaging 146.0 rushing yards and 226.5 passing yards per contest, while allowing 207.5 rushing yards and 146.5 passing yards per contest . . . Chazz Anderson has completed 47-of-71 passes for 440 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions this season . . . Branden Oliver is leading the Buffalo rushing attack with 120.0 rushing yards per contest and four rushing TDs.

- Ball State's game vs. the South Florida Bulls, which entered the game ranked 22nd in the nation in the USA Today Poll, marked its first game against a nationally ranked team since Nov. 4, 2006, when the Cardinals suffered a 34-26 loss at Michigan . . . The Wolverines had entered that game ranked No. 2 in the nation by AP and USA Today.
- Ball State opened the 2011 season by playing its first two games in stadiums that host National Football League teams . . . The Cardinals opened the year with a 27-20 win over Indiana at Lucas Oil Stadium, the home of the Indianapolis Colts . . . Ball State played its second game of the season at Raymond James Stadium, the home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
- Ball State's defense has registered five sacks in its first two games of the 2011 season . . . The Cardinals are tied for 37th in the nation with 2.5 sacks per game . . . • Ball State has won 16 of its last 27 Mid-American Conference games . . . The Cardinals won their final three MAC games in 2007 and all eight league contests in 2008 for 11 straight conference victories, which is the second longest league winning streak in school history.
