Softball Ends Season With 4-1 Loss to Miami at MAC's

AKRON, Ohio - The fourth seeded Ball State University softball team (34-24) fell to No. 7 Miami (32-21) by a score of 4-1 Friday afternoon at Firestone Stadium in the Mid-American Conference Tournament.
The Cardinals jumped out to an early 1-0 lead over Miami in the bottom of the first after Taylor Rager hit a sacrifice fly to bring home Alicia Barkley who had reached base after hitting a single. From that point on Ball State struggled offensively at the plate.
Miami would score a three run homer in the top of the fourth and then added another run in the seventh securing its victory and knocking Ball State out of the tournament due to double elimination.
Audra Sanders recorded the loss for Ball State after 4.0 innings of work she gave up three runs off of three hits while striking out two batters. Sanders ended the season with an overall record of 18-16. Miami's Jessica Simpson earned the victory improving to 27-14.
