April 23, 2011 | Football
Ball State first-year head football coach Pete Lembo will showcase the Cardinals at the annual Spring Game Saturday at 3 p.m. at Scheumann Stadium.
The football team will divide into offense and defense for a scrimmage with a point system devised to determine a winning side.
Ball State returns 53 letterwinners, including 11 starters, from the 2010 team that posted a 4-8 overall record. The Spring Game is free and open to the public.
Under the direction of Lembo, the Cardinals will run a 4-3 basic defense and a multiple no huddle offense in 2011.
Ball State opens the 2011 season vs. Indiana University at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind., and will host Buffalo Sept. 17 at Scheumann Stadium. The Cardinals Sept. 24 home game vs. Army is Family Weekend, while the Oct. 8 contest vs. Temple is Homecoming. Ball State's other remaining home games are Oct. 22 vs. Central Michigan and Nov. 25 vs. Toledo.
