Scouting Ball State: Ball State enters its last Mid-American Conference regular season contest with a 9-19 overall record and 4-11 mark in the MAC. Senior forward Emily Maggert leads the squad, averaging 14.9 points per game, while senior guard Ty'Ronda Benning adds 12.9 points per contest. Maggert led all scorers at Western Michigan after chipping in 18 points on the day. The Cardinals will pay tribute to their four seniors Maggert, Benning, Shannon Klei and Ebony Jackson.
Scouting Northern Illinois: The Huskies will face the Cardinals with a 12-16 overall record and a 6-9 MAC mark. Ball State lost the first meeting against the Huskies, 73-62, Jan. 19 at the Convocation Center. Northern Illinois is coming off of a 57-53 win over Toledo. NIU is led in scoring by Marke Free (16.2) and Ebony Ellis (11.0).
The Coaches: Ball State head coach Kelly Packard is in her third season at Ball State . . . Packard's overall record at Ball State is 49-45 (.521), while her Mid-American Conference mark is 25-22. . . Kathi Bennett is in her first season at Northern Illinois. . . Bennett's overall record at NIU is 12-16 and owns a MAC record of 6-9.
The Series: This is the 40th meeting between Ball State and Northern Illinois . . . The Huskies lead the all-time series 24-14 . . . The last time the Cardinals lost to Northern Illinois at Worthen Arena was by a score of 57-49 in 1998-99 . . . BSU fell 73-62 at NIU Jan. 19.
Packard Embarking on 50 wins: Head Coach Kelly Packard has earned 49 career victories at Ball State in three seasons (2008-present). With a win over Northern Illinois Wednesday, Packard could get win number 50, which makes her the only other coach besides Tracy Roller (2001-04) to earn 50 victories in three seasons.
