
WBB Suffers 61-46 Road Loss At BGSU

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio- The Ball State University women's basketball team (9-14, 4-6 MAC) fell 61-46 to Bowling Green (19-4, 7-3 MAC) Saturday afternoon in Anderson Arena.
For the game freshman forward Jazmin Hitchens led the Cardinals with 10 points while teammate senior guard Ty'Ronda Benning added nine to the day.
BGSU came out of the gates strong in the second half eventually building a 38-25 advantage at the 16:33 mark. Ball State was unable to carry its first half success into the second half and would trail the Falcons the remainder of the contest.
The Cardinals opened the game with a 6-0 run over MAC favorite Bowling Green to go up 6-0 quickly in the first half with just two minutes off the clock after freshmen duo Katie Murphy and Hitchens knocked down their layups.
Back-to-back baskets from Benning and Murphy increased the Cardinals lead to 12-4 with 13:18 remaining in the first period. With 8:50 on the clock BSU still led 16-9.
At the 7:24 mark BGSU had went on a 5-0 run to come within two of the Cardinals, 16-14. Lauren Prochaska hit a three point basket to give the Falcons their first lead of the game 21-19 with less than four minutes to go in the half. BGSU led by eight-points (31-23) at intermission.
The Ball State University women's basketball team will face its last Mid-American Conference East Divisional team when it travels to Akron Saturday for a 5 p.m. tipoff.
