Bishel Leads T&F On Final Day Of Meyo Invite

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - - Facing its strongest competition to date, the Ball State indoor track & field team collected one top 10 finish on the final day of the 24th annual Meyo Invitational hosted at Notre Dame's Loftus Sports Center.
In all, 47 women's teams from around the nation had at least one participant in the meet. BSU finished the two-day event with three top 10 efforts.
Senior Ali Bishel (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton H.S.) led the Cardinals on the final day of competition with a seventh-place showing in the 3,000m run. She completed the course in 10:04.86 to place in the top third of the 33 runners.
Junior Janae Taylor (Richmond, Ind./Richmond H.S.) also turned in a solid effort for the Cardinals, placing 18th among 55 runners in the 200m dash with a time of 25.58.
The Ball State indoor track & field team returns to action next Friday, when it travels to Bloomington, Ind., for the Hoosier Hills Invitational hosted by the Indiana University.

DAY ONE RESULTS
NOTRE DAME, Ind. - - Facing its strongest competition to date, the Ball State indoor track & field team collected a pair of top 10 efforts on the first day of the 24th annual Meyo Invitational hosted at Notre Dame's Loftus Sports Center.
In all, 47 women's teams from around the nation have at least one participant in this weekend's two-day event which continues at 10 a.m. Saturday with the women's 3,000m run.
Leading the charge for the Cardinals on the opening day was senior Thekla Lorenx (Hamburg, Germany) with a season-best long jump of 5.76m. With the effort, Lorenz placed 10th out of the 53 competitors in the event.
BSU's other top 10 finish came in the distance medley relay, with sophomore MaryKate Mellen (Michigan City, Ind./Michigan City H.S.), Judah Smith sophomore (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain H.S.), Christine Talhelm junior (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central H.S.) and senior Ali Bishel (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton H.S.) combining for a BSU season-best 10th-place time of 12:07.49.
Also turning in a solid opening-day effort was freshman Rebecca Lomax (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport H.S.) with an 11th-place finish in the high jump (1.68m).
