
Gymnastics Suffers Loss to Illinois State

Ball State's women's gymnastics team, under the direction of fourth-year head coach Nadalie Walsh, dropped a 193.250 to 191.975 meet to Illinois State in the Cardinals' Irving Gym.
With the loss, Ball State falls to 1-4 on the season, but owns a 1-1 mark in Mid-American Conference action.
The Cardinals began the meet on the vault and tallied a season high 48.125. Nicole Allen won the vault with a 9.750, while Brittney Emmons was second with a 9.700. The victory was the third vault title of the season for Allen in the team's five meets.
Illinois State tallied a 48.225 on the bars in its first event of the meet.
Ball State moved to the bars and tallied a 48.050, while the Redbirds scored a 48.225 on the vault. Illinois State maintained a 96.450 to 96.175 lead after two events.
Emmons placed second on the bars and tied her season high with a 9.750. Paige Oswalt was fourth on the bars with a 9.675, while Morgan Coslow tied for fifth with a 9.650.
Ball State moved to the beam and tallied a 47.025, while Illinois State competed on the floor and managed a 48.550. The Redbirds maintained a 144.000 to 143.200 lead after three events.
Tiffany Brodbeck finished third and led Ball State with a 9.675 on the beam, while Allen tallied a 9.650 to tie for fifth.
On the floor, Ball State's Brodbeck and Allen tied for first with 9.800 scores, while Amber Mirski tied for third with a career high 9.750.
Ball State will return to action Friday at Illinois-Chicago
