Women's Swimming & Diving Visits Notre Dame Saturday

MUNCIE, Ind. - - The Ball State women's swimming & diving team warps up the dual meet portion of its 2010-11 schedule Saturday, when it travels to Notre Dame for a 1 p.m. swim versus the Fighting Irish at the Rolfs Aquatics Center.
The meet will serve as the Cardinals' final tune-up before the Mid-American Conference Championships which will take place Feb. 23-26 at the Ohio University Aquatic Center.
Ball State enters the meet with a 4-3 dual meet record after suffering a 174.5-118.5 setback at Buffalo last Saturday. Notre Dame enters the meet with a 4-7 dual record after posting a 2-2 dual record in the Shamrock Invitational Jan. 28-29.
So far this season, the Cardinals have set seven school records, with the latest coming last weekend at Buffalo. In the meet, diver Christina Riordan (Homewood, Ill./Homewood Flossmoor H.S.) continued her stellar junior campaign with a school-record six dive score of 312.00 to win the three-meter competition. The effort currently ranks fifth in the league.
Individually, the Cardinals have 15 student-athletes ranked in the top 20 in their respective events in the league rankings.
Freshman Mallory Miles (Holland, Ind./Southridge H.S.) is BSU's top-ranked swimmer, with her school-records in the 100 back (56.64) and 200 back (2:03.18) ranking fourth and sixth, respectively, in the MAC.
Fellow freshman Bridgette Ruehl (Lowell, Ind./Lowell H.S.) is ranked fourth in the 200 breast (2:17.12) and eighth in the 100 breast (1:04.12) behind her school-record performances in each event.
