Women's Basketball Travels to CMU Wednesday

Scouting Ball State: Ball State enters the Central Michigan contest with a 9-17 overall record and 4-9 mark in the Mid-American Conference. Senior forward Emily Maggert leads the squad, averaging 15.0 points per game, while senior guard Ty'Ronda Benning adds 13.0 points per contest. Benning led the Cardinals in scoring Saturday against Toledo with 16 points.
Scouting Central Michigan: The Chippewas will face the Cardinals with a 17-8 overall record and a 9-4 MAC mark. Ball State won the first meeting against the Chippewas, 86-77, Jan. 15 in Worthen Arena. CMU is currently 5-1 in its last six contests. The Chippewas recently defeated Western Michigan Saturday by a score of 91-75. Leading the way for CMU in scoring is Kihla Szunko (16.2), Shonda Long (16.2), Brandie Baker (13.2), and Niki Diguilio (11.5).
The Coaches: Ball State head coach Kelly Packard is in her third season at Ball State . . . Packard's overall record at Ball State is 49-43 (.532), while her Mid-American Conference mark is 25-20. . . Sue Guevara is in her fourth season at Central Michigan. . . Guevara's overall record at CMU is 53-62 and she owns a MAC record of 28-31.
The Series: This is the 62nd meeting between Ball State and Central Michigan . . . The Cardinals lead the all-time series 31-30 . . . This is the first time Ball State will play in CMU's new venue the McGuirk Arena . . . The last time BSU won on the road at Central Michigan was Feb. 22 by a score of 71-67 in 2009.
Packard Embarking on 50 wins: Head Coach Kelly Packard has earned 49 career victories at Ball State in three seasons (2008-present). With a win over, Central Michigan Wednesday, Packard could get win number 50, which makes her the only other coach besides Tracy Roller (2001-04) to earn 50 victories in three seasons.
