Scouting Ball State: The Ball State women's basketball team suffered an 87-68 loss to Detroit Mercy Thursday night at Worthen Arena. The Cardinals enter Sunday's game with an overall record of 3-4. Against the Titans Ball State had three players score in double figures which was led by freshman guard Brittany Carter who contributed a career best 15 points for the contest. Sophomore forward Jazmin Hitchens chipped in 14 points, while senior center and co-captain Amber Crago ended the night with 12 points.
Scouting Stetson: The Hatters enter Sunday's game with an overall record of 6-2 and a 1-0 Atlantic Sun Conference ledger. Stetson recently just came off of a 68-60 victory over ETSU Thursday. The Hatters are led by Shanasa Sanders who is averaging 16.0 points per game while teammates Victoria McGowan adds 14.0 ppg and Sasha Sims is chipping in 11.5 ppg. Defensively Sims leads all players with 8.5 rebounds per contest. The Hatters are 1-2 on the road and has defeated Mid-American Conference East Division opponent Miami of Ohio 71-62 this season.
The Coaches: Ball State head coach Kelly Packard is in her fourth season at Ball State . . . Packard's overall record at Ball State is 52-51 (.504), while her Mid-American Conference mark is 25-24 . . . Stetson's head coach Lynn Bria is in her fourth season with the Hatters . . . Bria is coming off of a landmark season in 2010-11 that saw the Hatters win 20 games for the first time in 10 seasons, capture their third Atlantic Sun Conference tournament championship and advance to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in school history . . . Bria is familiar to the MAC as she was the head coach at Ohio University from 1999-2006 . . . Bria's overall record is 40-61 at Stetson while her Atlantic Sun Conference record is 25-36.
The Series: The Cardinals return to Worthen Arena Sunday, Dec. 4, as they host Stetson . . . Sunday's game is the third meeting all-time between Ball State and Stetson . . . The all-time series record between the Cardinals and the Hatters is knotted at 1-1 . . . Ball State won its last meeting over Stetson at a neural site in 2000 by a score of 88-62.
