Scouting Ball State: The Ball State women's basketball team enters Tuesday's contest with an overall record of 5-6. The Cardinals are coming off of a 67-53 loss to Valparaiso Sunday. Ball State was led in scoring by sophomore forward Jazmin Hitchens who had 14-points off of 3-of-4 shooting from behind the arc. Despite the loss the Cardinals did lead at the half 35-31 over the Crusaders. The Cardinals will now face their first ranked opponent since 2009, when they face the Phoenix Tuesday. After 11 games played Ball State is led by Hitchens in scoring with 12.3 points per game and freshman guard Brittany Carter who is averaging 10.4 ppg. Katie Murphy leads the Cardinals defensively with 5.1 rebounds per contest.
Scouting No. 15/19 Wisconsin-Green Bay: The Phoenix enter Tuesday's contest with an unblemished 8-0 record. With its last win over fellow Mid-American Conference member Toledo by a score of 72-65. Green Bay has four players averaging double figures, Julie Wojta (19.9), Lydia Bauer (14.0), Adrian Ritchie (12.3) and Sarah Eichler (10.5). Wojta also leads the way in rebounding for the Phoenix averaging 9.9 boards per game.
The Coaches: Ball State head coach Kelly Packard is in her fourth season at Ball State . . . Packard's overall record at Ball State is 54-53 (.504), while her Mid-American Conference mark is 25-24 . . . Green Bay's head coach is Matt Bollant . . . he is in his fifth season at Green Bay . . . He is coming off of his best season in the history of the 38-year-old program . . . As a No. 5 seed in the 2011 NCAA Tournament, its highest seed in program history, Bollant led Green Bay to its first Sweet 16 appearance with a 59-55 win over No. 12 seed UALR in the first round before knocking off No. 4 seed Michigan State in the second round with a 65-56 victory . . . Bollant's overall record is 125-17 (.880), while his Horizon League mark is 68-4.
The Series: The Cardinals head to No. 15/19 Wisconsin-Green Bay for its last non-conference road trip, Tuesday for a 8 p.m. EST tipoff . . . Tuesday's game is only the third meeting all-time between Ball State and Wisconsin-Green Bay . . . The Phoenix lead the all-time series record 2-0 . . . Green Bay won its last meeting over Ball State 83-63 in 2009-10 in Worthen Arena . . .
