Scouting Ball State: The Ball State women's basketball team improved its overall record to 2-3 last Monday night at Worthen Arena after defeating Oakland City (0-3), 68-39. For the game senior forward Suzanne Grossnickle along with teammate freshman Jonessa Moore led the Cardinals with 10-points apiece. The 10-point performance by Moore was a personal best for the true freshman. Ball State also had two players that added eight points on the night, sophomore forwards Katie Murphy and Jazmin Hitchens. Defensively the Cardinals out-rebounded their opponent 51-to-28 which was led by junior guard Shanee' Jackson, sophomore guard Brandy Woody and Hitchens each pulling down six boards.
Scouting Evansville: The Purple Aces enters Tuesday's game with a 1-4 overall record with its lone victory coming against Troy by a score of 59-49 . . . Evansville was led by center Samantha Heck who scored 16 points and Meagan Collins who chipped in 11 for the win. The game against Ball State marks the second Mid-American Conference opponent the Purple Aces have faced this season, Evansville suffered a 71-54 loss to Bowling Green, November 20.
The Coaches: Ball State head coach Kelly Packard is in her fourth season at Ball State . . . Packard's overall record at Ball State is 51-50 (.505), while her Mid-American Conference mark is 25-24 . . . Evansville's head coach Oties Epps is in his first season with the Purple Aces . . . Epps overall record at Evansville is 1-4 (0.2), while his Missouri Valley Conference record is 0-0 . . . Evansville ended the 2010-11 season with an overall record of 8-22 and finished the year 3-15 in conference play.
The Series: The Cardinals travel to in-state rival Evansville, Tuesday, November 29th . . This is the11th meeting between Ball State and Evansville . . . The all-time series record is tied between the two schools', 5-5 with Ball State winning its last meeting last season at home by a score of 61-58 . . . Evansville won, 73-67, in 2009-10 at Roberts Stadium. Evansville has a new home to play in the Ford Center, the arena opened in 2011 and is a multi-purpose facility.
