Scouting Ball State: The Ball State women's basketball team (1-3) earned an 81-72 victory over Murray State (2-2) Saturday afternoon in Worthen Arena. The Cardinals now own the all-time series record over the Racers 2-1. Jazmin Hitchens led the Cardinals with a career-high 22 points plus added seven rebounds in the winning effort. Brandy Woody tallied 10 points, while Katie Murphy added eight points and eight rebounds. Ball State managed to shoot .538 percent from field goal range, including a 64 percent mark in the second half. The hot shooting by the Cardinals allowed them to pull away from their 35-32 halftime -advantage. Ball State also led on the glass out-rebounding the Racers 47-to-32.
Scouting Oakland City: Oakland City has competed against Evansville in an exhibition match-up and lost 78-41. The Lady Oaks have also lost to Eastern Illinois (93-32) and Kentucky Wesleyan College (84-51). Oakland City is located in Oakland City Ind. Oakland City is coached by Jessica Mehringer. Last Season the Lady Oaks ended the season with an overall record of 15-14. They are an NCAA D-II All-Independent member.
The Coaches: Ball State head coach Kelly Packard is in her fourth season at Ball State . . . Packard's overall record at Ball State is 50-50 (.500), while her Mid-American Conference mark is 25-24 . . . Oakland City's head coach is Jessica Mehringer and she begins her sixth year with the Lady Oaks.

Worthen Has Been Good To Us: Head Coach Kelly Packard owns a 32-15 homecourt advantage at John. E. Worthen Arena. In her inaugural season the Cardinals posted their best home record in Ball State women's basketball history at 14-1.
Packard Wins No. 50: Head Coach Kelly Packard earned her 50th career win Saturday after the Cardinals defeated Murray State, 81-72. With the win she becomes only the fourth head coach in school history to earn 50 career victories, she will join Tracy Roller, Robyn Markey and Ethel Gregory.
