Women?s S&D Hosts Doug Coers Invitational

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's swimming & diving team will look for its second invitational win of the season this weekend, when it hosts the 2011 Doug Coers Invitational at Lewellen Aquatic Center.
The two-day event begins 6 p.m. Friday and continues 9 a.m. Saturday. Lewis University, Valparaiso, Findlay, Grand Valley, Robert Morris-Chicago and Marshall will join Ball State. Last season, the Cardinals posted 29 top-three finishes, including wins in 16 of the 20 events.
Ball State returns event winners from last season's meet in two members of the 200 freestyle relay in sophomore Betsy Bowen (Bremen, Ind./Bremen) and junior Mallory Przybylinski (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton), while sophomore Emily Wisolek (Middlebury, Ind./Northridge) took home top billing in the 500 free (5:09.35).
Sophomore Haley Richter (Roanoke, Ind./Columbia City) earned first place in the 200 IM (2:10.26), the 100 fly (57.47) and was a member of the first-place 400 freestyle relay (3:33.31) with Wisolek. Richter enters the weekend competition ranked second in the Mid-American Conference in the 100 fly, 10th in the 200 IM and 14th in the 200 fly.
Sophomore Bridgette Ruehl (Lowell, Ind./Lowell) tallied first-place in the 100 breast (1:07.01), 200 breast (2:21.47) and was a member of last season's first-place 400 medley relay (3:57.44) with classmate Richter and junior Mallory Miles (Holland, Ind./Southridge) and was a member of the winning 200 medley relay (1:49.08) with senior swimmer Nicole Saulters (Highland, Ind./Highland). Ruehl enters the weekend ranked sixth in the 100 and 200 breast in the league.
Junior Jillian Bischoff (Atlanta, Ind./Hamilton Heights) returns as the champion in the 200 free (1:56.46) and stood as a member of the winning 800 freestyle relay (7:53.43) with Richter and Wisolek, while sophomore Jackie Iglesias (Aurora, Ind./West Aurora) took first in the 100 back, clocking in at 59.56.
Senior divers Whitney Adams (Danville, Ind./Danville) and Christina Riordan (Homewood, Ill./Homewood Flossmoor) tallied the top-two spots on the 3-meter board last season.
