Women's Golf Inks Fort Wayne Product Karley Dobis

Ball State head women's golf coach Katherine Mowat has announced the signing of Karley Dobis to a national letter of intent to attend Ball State and compete on the women's golf team.
Dobis, a senior at Fort Wayne Homestead High School, tallied a 39.9 nine hole average as a senior and a 78.2 average for 18-hole rounds. Dobis was named to The News-Sentinel All-Area Team as a junior and senior and was selected as Homestead's Most Valuable Player as a senior. She earned all-conference and all-city honors this fall for a second straight season. Dobis was the sectional medalist and runner up in the regional plus was a state finalist and tied the school's 18-hole record with a 72. She helped the Spartans to four sectional titles, two regional crowns and two appearances in the Indiana High School Athletic Association State Championships.
In summer golf, Dobis tied for fourth at the 2011 Indiana Golf Association Pepsi Junior Max Master's Tour and tied for 36th at the 2011 IGA State Amateur. She tied for first at the 2011 Indiana Age Group Championships with a 77-78=155.
In addition to high school golf, Dobis has lettered three seasons in basketball at Homestead and is serving as co-captain of the team as a senior. She has helped the team to a 55-13 career mark and has been a two-year starter heading into her senior season. Dobis helped the team to conference and sectional titles in 2010-11.
Dobis, the daughter of Timothy and Carol Dobis, owns a 3.5 grade-point average on Homestead's 4.0 scale and plans on majoring in telecommunications at Ball State. She competed in high school golf for Coach Michelle Swing, while her swing coach is Ball State alum and former men's golf letterwinner Tim Frazier (1988-91).
