Women's Basketball Tops The NCAA GRS Report
October 27, 2011 | Women's Basketball
MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State University women's basketball program topped the list in the latest NCAA Graduation Success Rate Report.
"A perfect mark in this category is a great success, and results in great pride in our program's performance," said Ball State head women's basketball coach Kelly Packard. "There were many individual efforts and commitments to academics that contributed toward this success."
Women's Basketball received a perfect 100 percent graduation rate in the report. The Cardinals also topped last year's NCAA APR (Academic Progress Rate) for Division I coaches with a perfect 1,000 while the national average was 966. The grading requirements were based on the 2008-09 academic school year.
The graduation rates are affected by a number of factors, including those who transfer or are dismissed for academic deficiencies. Ball State student-athletes graduated at a 13 percent higher rate than the general student body freshman class entering the university in 2004-05.
