Men's Tennis Finishes Day One of Ball State Invite

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State University men's tennis team ended its first day of action at the 33rd annual Ball State Invitational Friday at the Muncie YMCA.
In the men's open singles, Ball State had four players advance to the quarter final round. Derek Carpenter advanced to the quarterfinal round after a two set defeat over IPFW and Green Bay. Alex Doherty also advanced after winning two sets against IUPUI and IPFW. In singles flight A, Dalton Albertin defeated Max Rubin (Duquesne), 7-5, 6-1, while Austin Sansone defeated Ivan Mojsevjev (IUPUI), 6-7(4), 7-6(4), 1-0(4).
In men's doubles flight A, Dalton Albertin and Ray Leonard defeated Marquette's Jonathon Schwerin and Vakasin Teofanovic, 9-8 (5).
The Ball State Invitational continues action Saturday at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center weather permitting.
