Scouting Ball State: Ball State enters today's contest with a 5-9 overall record and 0-1 Mid-American Conference mark after dropping its league opener on the road at Toledo Wednesday by a score of 63-46. The high scorer for the Cardinals was senior forward Emily Maggert who chipped in 18 points. Head Coach Kelly Packard is now 2-1 when it comes to MAC openers. Watch for Maggert to possibly move into fourth all-time in the Ball State women's basketball scoring list at EMU as she needs only 13 points to pass former Cardinal Emma Jones who currently holds that spot with 1,513 points.
Scouting Eastern Michigan: Eastern Michigan enters today's game on a five game win streak after defeating Northern Illinois 79-63 on the road Wednesday in its MAC opener. The Eagles improve to 10-5 on the season and start league action off to 1-0. Junior Tayelyn James along with teammate senior Cassie Schrock led the EMU, each scoring over 20-points. James contributed 26 points while Schrock had 24.
The Coaches: Ball State head coach Kelly Packard is in her third season at Ball State . . . Packard's overall record at Ball State is 45-35 (.562), while her Mid-American Conference mark is 21-12 . . . AnnieMarie Gilbert is in her fourth season at Eastern Michigan . . . Gilbert overall record at Eastern Michigan is 57-47 and owns a MAC record of 27-22.
The Series: Ball State went 0-2 agains the Eagles last season losing at EMU by a score of 64-54 and then at Worthen Arena, 63-57. It will be the 61st meeting between Ball State and Eastern Michigan . . . The Eagles lead the all-time series record 33-27.
