Scouting Ball State: Ball State enters today's contest on a two-game Mid-American Conference East Divisional win streak. The Cardinals have knocked off Kent State and then recently defeated Miami 66-49 Wednesday to remain undefeated at home in MAC action. Ball State's senior forward Emily Maggert tallied her 29th career double-double in the win over Miami. The Cardinals limited the RedHawks to 27 percent shooting for the game, including 22 percent from three-point range, and forced 18 turnovers in the contest. With the victory, Ball State improved to 9-11 overall and 4-3 in league action.
Scouting Buffalo: The Bulls are coming off of a 92-89 victory at Central Michigan Tuesday before that contest Buffalo had lost two in a row. Buffalo returns to Alumni Arena for the first time since Jan. 18 when it hosted Bowling Green. Kourtney Brown is leading the Bulls in scoring and rebounding averaging a double-double with 22.2 points per game and 12.3 rebounds. Brittany Hedderson is the only other Bull that is averaging double digit points averaging 11.1 points per game.
The Coaches: Ball State head coach Kelly Packard is in her third season at Ball State . . . Packard's overall record at Ball State is 49-37 (.569), while her Mid-American Conference mark is 25-14. . . Linda Hill-MacDonald is in her sixth season at Buffalo. . . Hill-MacDonald's overall record at Buffalo is 60-109 and owns a MAC record of 26-61.
The Series: This is the 15th meeting between Ball State and Buffalo . . . The Cardinals lead the all-time series record 10-4 . . . Ball State defeated the Bulls 84-62 in Worthen Arena last season . . . The Cardinals have won three straight over Buffalo dating back to the 2008-09 season . . . Packard is undefeated (3-0) as a head coach against the Bulls.
Packard Embarking on 50 wins: Head Coach Kelly Packard has earned 49 career victories at Ball State in three seasons (2008-present). With a win over Buffalo Saturday, Packard could get win number 50 which makes her the only other coach besides Tracy Roller (2001-04) to earn 50 victories in three seasons.
