Scouting Ball State: Ball State enters tonight's contest with an overall mark of 8-11 and a Mid-American Conference record of 3-3. The Cardinals stunned MAC leader Kent State Saturday when they defeated the Golden Flashes 69-65 in overtime. Ball State had three players in double figures; senior forward Emily Maggert led Ball State with 19 points while senior guard Ty'Ronda Benning chipped in 18 points on the night and teammate freshman forward Jazmin Hitchens had her first double-double of her career with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Benning hit two three pointers while going 2-for-2 from the charity stripe to give the Cardinals the 66-60 advantage over Kent State in overtime.
Scouting Miami: The RedHawks are coming off of an 71-64 loss to Northern Illinois. Miami comes to Ball State with an overall record of 10-9 and 2-4 mark in league action. Miami has three players averaging double digits with Courtney Osborn leading the way with 16.3 points per game, Maggie Boyer is chipping in 13.4 points a contest and Kirsten Olowinski closes the scoring out with 11.5 ppg.
The Coaches: Ball State head coach Kelly Packard is in her third season at Ball State . . . Packard's overall record at Ball State is 48-37 (.564), while her Mid-American Conference mark is 24-14. . . Maria Fantanarosa is in her 13th season at Miami. . . Fantanarosa's overall record at Miami is 196-179 and owns a MAC record of 106-92.
