
MBB Posts 70-60 Win at Toledo

Ball State's men's basketball team improved to 13-4 overall and 5-0 in the Mid-American Conference with a 70-60 victory at Toledo Saturday night. With the loss, the Rockets fall to 4-15 overall and 1-4 in the MAC.
Ball State's 13-4 start is the best for the Cardinals since the team started 16-3 in 1997-98. The 5-0 MAC start is the best since the Cardinals started 6-0 in 1997-98. The victory over Toledo marked the Cardinals seventh straight victory and 10th in the last 11 contests.
The Cardinals made 26-of-31 free throws in the game, including 7-of-7 in the final 1:09 of the game to secure the victory.
Randy Davis led Ball State and tied his career high with 24 points, including 14-of-14 free throws. Davis added seven assists and four steals in the game. Jauwan Scaife added 13 points, and Jarrod Jones tallied 12 points and six rebounds.
After falling behind 27-26 at the half, Ball State outscored Toledo 44-33 in the second half. After the game was tied 30-30 with 16:46 to play, the Cardinals Jesse Berry's three pointer gave Ball State a 36-30 lead.
A pair of free throws by Davis at the 7:06 mark gave the Cardinals a 10-point advantage, 47-37. Chris Bond's layup at the 2:39 mark gave Ball State its largest lead of the game, 63-50.
Toledo's Anthony Wright connected on a three pointer with 1:03 remaining to bring the Rockets within six at 64-58.
Davis would make four free throws, while Scaife would make two in the final minute to secure the win for the Cardinals.
Ball State will host Morehead State Monday at 7 p.m. at Worthen Arena.
