WBB Ends Non-Conference Play With Loss to Duquesne

Senior forward Emily Maggert led the Cardinals after scoring 10 points, Maggert also added six rebounds on the day. Freshman guard Jordan Huber had nine points after scoring three from behind the arc. Freshman Jazmine Hitchens along with senior guard Ty'Ronda Benning each scored eight points. Defensively freshman point guard Brandy Woody was the top rebounder for BSU with seven boards.
After trailing Duquesne 9-23 in the opening minutes of the first half, Ball State slowly began to chip away at the Dukes early lead. A three point basket from junior forward Suzanne Grossnickle brought the Cardinals within 11 points (30-19) with 6:48 left to play in the first period. Ball State would still trail by 11 at the 5:24 mark after sophomore guard Shanee' Jackson knocked in a free throw, but Duquesne closed out the half with a 43-27 edge over the Cardinals.
The Ball State University women's basketball team begins Mid-American Conference action on the road Wednesday at Toledo. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. in Savage Arena.
