Pruett Wins Golf Tourney; Cardinals Finish Third

Ball State's women's golf team hosted the 14-team Cardinal Classic at The Players Club in Muncie, Ind., and placed third as a team, while senior Rachael Pruett tallied a 72-70=142 to win medalist honors at the event.
Ball State moved from seventh place to third after firing a second round 298 to total 606 for the event. Western Michigan won the tournament with a 297-299=596, while Southern Illinois was second with a 299-302=601.
Pruett's second round 70 was two under par and the low final round of the tournament. It marked her first career victory as an individual.
Katie Windlan tied for ninth with a 75-74=149. Brittany Kelly tied for 12th with a 77-74-151. Chantelle Hefer managed to tie for 59th with an 84-80=164, while Sarah Westaway tied for 66th with a 86-80=166. Each of Ball State's players improved their scores from the first round to the second round.
Autumn Duke and Meghan Perry competed as individuals. Perry tied for 46th with an 82-78=160, while Duke tied for 59th with an 84-80=164.
The tournament was played at 6,258 yards and to a par 72. Joining Ball State at the event are Ashland, Bowling Green, California (Pa.), Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, Indiana State, IUPUI, Northern Illinois, Oakland, Ohio, Southern Illinois, Western Michigan and Youngstown State.
Ohio's Meryl Weaver managed a hole in one on hole No. 7 in the second round. The hole was a par-3, playing to 131 yards.
