Men's Tennis Ends Day One Of Ball State Invite

In the men's open singles-flight A, Dalton Albertin advanced to the semifinal round after a two set defeat over IPFW and Illinois State. Andres Monroy won his opening match then dropped to Rob Fox of Cleveland State 6-4, 6-1 in the round of 16. Alexander Brym proceeded to the semifinals with victories over IPFW and Xavier.
John Wegener along with teammate Dave Thomas all opened the invitational with wins. Thomas will compete in the semifinal round Saturday in open singles.
In white open singles, Alex Doherty took down IPFW and Illinois State in straight sets to move onto the semifinals. Austin Sansone won his early match but lost in the round of 16. Shaun Bussert was also a winner on the day.
In doubles action the twosome of Albertin and Zane Smith won in flight A and will compete in the semifinals Saturday. Doherty and Thomas paired up for a win in flight B doubles along with the BSU duo of Brym and Wegener.
The 32nd annual Ball State Invitational continues action Saturday at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center weather permitting.
