Men's Tennis Hosts 32nd Annual Ball State Invitational

MUNCIE, Ind.- The Ball State University men's tennis team is set to host the Ball State Invitational, which will begin Friday and will end Sunday. Competition will take place at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center and Lucina Courts.
"We are excited to host the 31st annual Fall Invitational. We have a very competitive field and there will be a lot of tenis played on our courts over the 3 day event. We will know a lot more about our team a week from now," said head men's tennis coach Bill Richards. "I am anxious to see how we play."
This marks the 32nd year the Cardinals have hosted the invitational. The tournament consists of a 12-team field, which includes Ball State, Butler, DePaul, IPFW, IUPUI, Marquette, Northern Illinois, Eastern Illinois, Cleveland State, Xavier, Illinois State and Wisconsin-Green Bay.
The tournament consists of three flights (A, B, and C) of singles with draws of 32 apiece. There will also be three flights of doubles with draws of 16 apiece. There will also be consolation play for first round losers in both singles and doubles.
BSU tennis welcomes back former player and alumnus Steve Rodecap, who is the head coach at Marquette. Rodecap played at Ball State from 1992-96 while helping the Cardinals to a trio of Mid-American Conference Championship titles (1992-93, 1993-94, 1994-95). The Anderson, Ind., native is in his seventh year at the helm of the Golden Eagles.
Bill Richards begins his 39th year as head coach of the Cardinals. Ball State returns All-Mid-American Conference honoree Cliff Morrison and ALL-MAC Tournament honoree Dalton Albertin.
