Women's Basketball Wraps Up Season At Banquet

Ball State head coach Kelly Packard in her second year at the helm of the Cardinals, led the team to the school's 10th appearance in the Mid-American Conference Tournament quarterfinals. The 2009-2010 squad won five of their last eight games, and finished with a 14-17 overall record.
Junior Emily Maggert was named Second Team All-MAC while senior Audrey McDonald garnered MAC Honorable Mention honors. McDonald also was tabbed to the All-MAC Academic Team.
The coaching staff handed the team honors as Maggert, McDonald and senior Danielle Gratton earned the team captain awards. McDonald received the Cardinal Pride Award and Maggert was tabbed Most Valuable Player. Freshman Shanee' Jackson collected the Most Improved Award.
Gratton was granted the Feeney Memorial Scholarship for the second straight season. The Feeney scholarship was established in 1995 and is awarded to the player who demonstrates passion and commitment to basketball and academics.
Sue Wilden a member of the media received the Tom Hammond Memorial Fan or Media Appreciation Award. Tom Hammond was the longtime public address announcer for Ball State women's basketball. Hammond passed away during the end of the Cardinals' run to a MAC West Division Championship in February 2007. The Tom Hammond Memorial Fan or Media Appreciation Award was established in honor of Hammond, who epitomized a Cardinals Women's Basketball fan and media member. Wilden was the fourth recipient of the award at the 2010 banquet.
