Ball State's football team will host its final Spring Practice, which is open to the public, Saturday at 11 a.m. at Scheumann Stadium.
In addition, Ball State Sports Link will proved a Spring Football Special at 10:30 a.m., airing on WIPB-TV and www.ballstatesports.com. The television special will include interviews with Ball State players, coaches and staff and will recap the spring season as well as preview the 2010 campaign. The show will be hosted by Nick Yeoman and Ryan Camden. Eric Peat will report on the offense's progress during spring, while Rick Johnston will report on the defense.
The Cardinals began preparation for the 2010 season in March and will conclude Saturday. Ball State will open the 2010 season Thursday, Sept. 2, with a home game vs. Southeast Missouri State at Scheumann Stadium. Saturday's practice is open to the public and free of charge.
The Cardinals return 42 lettermen, including 17 starters from the 2009 season.
MiQuale Lewis, who was granted a fifth year of eligibility by the Mid-American Conference and NCAA for an injury during the 2007 season, leads the list of returnees. Lewis set the Ball State single game rushing record with 301 yards at Eastern Michigan a year ago. He set the school's single season rushing record with 1,736 yards in 2008. Lewis was a 2009 All-MAC Second Team choice after earning first-team honors in 2008.
