Maggert & McDonald Receive All-MAC WBB Honors
March 09, 2010 | Women's Basketball
CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conferenced named Ball State junior forward Emily Maggert to Second Team All-MAC honors and senior guard Audrey McDonald has been selected to Honorable Mention All-MAC both for the first time in their careers.
Maggert and McDonald have been the heart of the Cardinals scoring this season. Both hit the 1,000 point plateau which marked the first time two Ball State women's basketball players reached the 1,000-point mark in a season since 2006-07 when teammates Julie DeMuth and Kelsey Corbin both accomplished that feat.
Maggert has been named MAC Player of the Week on two occassions this season (12/14/09 and 12/21/09). She has earned 19 double-doubles this season which ranks third in the nation. Maggert holds the BSU record for rebounds in a season with 323 and ranks seventh all time in rebounds with 681. She was a preseason All-MAC selection and leads the team with 17.1 points per game and 10.8 rebounds. Maggert has received postseason All-MAC honors since her freshman season.
This is McDonald's first-ever postseason All-MAC honor. McDonald holds the all-time school and MAC record for three pointers made with 320. She is eighth on Ball State's scoring list with 1,340 points, first all-time at BSU in games started (125), minutes played (4,141), games played (126) and in three-point field goal attempts (789). McDonald is second on the team in scoring with 12.3 points per contest.
The Ball State women's basketball team (14-16, 7-9 MAC) advanced to the quarterfinals in Cleveland as the No. 7 seed after defeating Western Michigan in the first round 67-43 Saturday. The Cardinals will face the No. 2 seed and MAC West Division Champions Toledo Wednesday at Noon in Quicken Loans Arena.
