March 06, 2010 | Women's Basketball
The Cardinals shot 50 percent for the game, while holding Western Michigan to 27.1 percent from the field. Senior guard Audrey McDonald, along with teammate and fellow guard Ty'Ronda Benning, led the Cardinals with 13 points. Freshman guard Shanee' Jackson tied her personal best with a 10-point performance.
McDonald opened the second half with a back-to-back three pointers allowing Ball State to build a 33-16 cushion over WMU.
With 7:06 remaining in the contest, Ball State increased its lead to 44-28 after Jackson hit two from the charity stripe.
The Cardinals strong first half showing carried over to the second half and was too much for the Broncos to overcome.
Jackson's fastbreak layup at the 15:23 mark in the first half sparked a 6-0 run for the Cardinals given them an 11-6 advantage over the Broncos.
Western Michigan made it a 14-13 ball game under the eight minute mark, but the Cardinals defense held the Broncos to only a basket after that, Ball State would then end the half up 27-15.
