
Maggert Scores Career High In Loss To BGSU

Junior forward Emily Maggert scored a career high 28 points and pulled down nine rebounds, while fellow captain, senior guard Audrey McDonald, chipped in 16 points, including four three pointers. For the game Ball State outrebounded Bowling Green 35-to-33.
The Cardinals started the second half up 44-33 after Maggert knocked down free throws and a layup. However, Bowling Green took back the lead, 48-46, just under the 12 minute mark.
Bowling Green built a 10-point cushion with eight minutes left in regulation, but the Cardinals came back to 63-60 after baskets from Maggert and McDonald with five minutes to play.
McDonald's three pointer at 1:34 made it a 74-72 ball game with the Falcons in the lead. With seconds left in the game the Cardinals trailed by three points but BGSU would knock down its free throws to secure the victory.
Ball State took an early 4-0 edge at the start of the first half over the Falcons after junior guard Ty'Ronda Benning scored back-to-back layups. BGSU rallied off two straight baskets to tie the game at the 17:26 mark.
After eight lead changes and four ties a Maggert's layup with 2:13 remaining gave Ball State its biggest lead of the half (30-24) over the Falcons.
Bowling Green's Tamika Nurse knocked down a trey to tie the game 30-30 with just over a minute left in the first period. McDonald hit a three to make it 33-30 seconds later, Bowling Green would then turn the ball over allowing Magger to hit a layup off of a dish from McDonald to give the Cardinals a 35-30 halftime advantage over the Falcons.
The Ball State University women's basketball team will remain at home when it hosts Buffalo Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Worthen Arena.
