WBB Plays At Illinois State Thursday

Scouting Ball State: The Ball State women's basketball team improved to 4-3 overall after its 66-60 victory at SIU-Edwardsville Sunday afternoon. Senior forward Emily Maggert led all scorers with 21 while tallying 16 rebounds for her 26th double-double of her career. Junior forward Suzanne Grossnickle chipped in nine points while senior guard Ty'Ronda Benning ended the day with eight.
Scouting Illinois State: The Redbirds enter tonight's game with a 4-2 record. Illinois State is coming off of an 94-86 overtime win at home against Illinois-Chicago. The Redbirds have also posted wins over Illinois (69-62), Eastern Illinois (84-53) and SIU-Edwardsville (68-57). Illinois State has suffered losses to South Dakota State (73-70) and DePaul (100-83). Emily Hanley leads the Redbirds in scoring averaging 15.0 points per contest.
The Coaches: Ball State head coach Kelly Packard is in her third season at Ball State . . . Packard's overall record at Ball State is 44-29, while her Mid-American Conference mark is 21-11 . . . Stephanie Glance was named the sixth head women's basketball coach in Illinois State history April 20, 2010 . . . she comes to Illinois State after spending last season with Pat Summit as an assistant coach.
The Series: The game versus Illinois State is the eigth meeting all time between the two schools. Ball State leads the series 5-2. In the last meeting Ball State captured an 86-80 victory over the Redbirds at Worthen Arena on Dec. 13 last season. That win marked the first victory for a Mid-American Conference school over Illinois State since the 2006-07 season. Heading into last year's contest the Cardinals had last defeated the Redbirds in 2003.
