Scouting Ball State: The Ball State University women's basketball team (5-7) closed out the 2010 non-conference play with a 78-59 win over St. Louis Thursday night in Worthen Arena. Two Cardinals were a bucket shy of tying their career highs after Emily Maggert scored 26 points and Ty'Ronda Benning had 20 points on the night. Senior Ebony Jackson also scored in double digits with 11. Maggert was 8-of-10 from the field against the Billikens. The Cardinals second half 15-0 run helped seal the victory.
Scouting Duquesne: Duquesne enters today's game with a three game winning streak. The Dukes' are coming off of a 62-50 win over Austin Peay Thursday. Duquesne is currently 7-1 on the road with its only road loss being at No. 10 West Virginia. The Dukes' just recently pulled an 71-67 upset over No. 12 Ohio State. Duquesne is led by three players averaging double figures, Samantha Pollino (12.7), Alex Gensler (12.5) and Wumi Agunbiade (12.0).
The Coaches: Ball State head coach Kelly Packard is in her third season at Ball State . . . Packard's overall record at Ball State is 45-33 (.576), while her Mid-American Conference mark is 21-11 . . . Suzie McConnell is in her fourth season at Duquesne . . . McConnell's overall record at Duquesne is 66-41.
The Series: Ball State leads the all-time series record 2-0 against Duquesne with the Cardinals winning their last contest 71-62 in 2009-10 at the A.J. Palumbo Center.
