Scouting Ball State: The Ball State women's basketball team enters today's contest with a 3-3 overall record. The Cardinals fell 56-45 to Big 12 foe Missouri Wednesday night in Worthen Arena. Despite the loss senior guard Ty'Ronda Benning led all scorers with 17 points, which included four three pointers. Senior forward Emilly Maggert along with teammate junior center Amber Crago, each had eight points. Crago led the Cardinals with 10 rebounds plus added one block.
Scouting SIU-Edwardsville: The Cougars are currently 2-4 on the season after posting a 62-55 victory over Saint Louis, Nov. 28. SIU-Edwardsville plays DePaul Friday night at 7 p.m. The Cougars are currently led by Jazmin Hill who is averaging 13.2 points per game and Rave Berry who chips in 10.5 points per contest.
The Coaches: Ball State head coach Kelly Packard is in her third season at Ball State . . . Packard's overall record at Ball State is 43-29, while her Mid-American Conference mark is 21-11 . . . SIU-Edwardsville head coach is Amanda Levens . . . she is in her third season at SIUE . . . Last season she led the Cougars to a 8-21 mark . . .Levens currently owns a 18-64 overall ledger.
The Series: This is the second meeting between Ball State and SIU-Edwardsville . . . The Cougars went Division I in 2008-09 . . . in its first season at the NCAA Division I level head coach Amanda Levens coached the Cougars to a 5-24 overall record . . . SIU-Edwardsville is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference. Ball State defeated the Cougars last season 64-40 in Worthen Arena. The Cardinals led SIUE at the half by 20-points.
