WBB Takes on UAB at Caribbean Classic Monday

Scouting Ball State: The Ball State University women's basketball team (4-5) fell in double overtime 105-98 to in-state rival Butler (5-4) Sunday afternoon in Worthen Arena. Three Cardinals scored in double figures with senior forward Emily Maggert leading the way with 21 points and nine rebounds. Senior guard Ty'Ronda Benning chipped in 18 points and teammate junior guard Megan Craft had a season high 16 points after going 5-of-5 from behind the arc.
Scouting UAB: UAB is coming off of their fourth straight victory with a 67-64 win over Clemson on Wednesday night at Bartow Arena. Sophomore guard Jala Harris led the Blazers (6-3) with a game-high 23 points and junior guard LaShaunda Pratt added a career-high 16 points.
Scouting Nevada Reno: The University of Nevada women's basketball team scored a 28-point victory in its first action in almost two weeks over Portland State 85-57 Thursday night. Nevada used the win to improve to 7-2 on the year while Portland State dropped to 5-4.
The Coaches: Ball State head coach Kelly Packard is in her third season at Ball State . . . Packard's overall record at Ball State is 44-31 (.586), while her Mid-American Conference mark is 21-11 . . . Audra Smith is in her seventh season at UAB . . . Smith's overall record at Alabama Birmingham is 87-102 . . . Jane Albright is in her second season at Nevada Reno . . . Albright's overall record at Nevada Reno is 25-17.
The Series: The Cardinals will face Alabama-Birmingham (UAB) on Dec. 20 at 3:30 p.m. Ball State is 1-1 against Alabama Birmingham with the Cardinals winning their last contest over UAB, 77-68 in 2001-02. Ball State's second contest will be played against Nevada on Dec. 21 at 1 p.m. This will be the first meeting between the two schools.
