Women?s Basketball Suffers 77-51 Loss at Illinois State

NORMAL, Ill. - The game resulted in Illinois State leading from start to finish, Ball State was unable to rebound from its 26-point halftime deficit losing Thursday night to the Redbirds by an 77-51 margin.
With the loss Ball State drops to 4-4 on the season while Illinois State improves its overall record to 5-2. Both teams will compete at the upcoming Caribbean Classic (Dec. 20-21) in Cancun, Mexico but will not face each other.
Senior forward Emily Maggert led the Cardinals in scoring for the second game in a row after chipping in 12 points on the night while adding six rebounds. Junior guard Megan Craft scored a season high eight points which included two three pointers and a pair of free throws.
With 10:03 left in the contest the Redbirds had taken a 65-35 advantage over the Cardinals. Ball State was struggling from the field at that point in the game only shooting 36 percent while Illinois State was shooting 52 percent. Megan Craft knocked down her first three pointer of the night at the 8:59 mark.
Behind a 57 percent shooting effort in the first half, Illinois State built a 49-23 lead at the intermission. Ball State's defense forced seven Redbird turnovers, the Cardinals only committed five miscues.
